AT&T Boosts Connectivity & Public Safety in Buhl

Good news for AT&T customers in Buhl: the northwestern Tuscaloosa County area just got a major connectivity upgrade.

AT&T recently activated a new cell tower there, promising faster speeds and stronger signals for residents.

This latest tower, built on Tuscaloosa County School System (TCSS) property, expands on a previous successful collaboration between AT&T and TCSS.

Beyond general improvements, the new tower will markedly boost coverage along Old Boothtown Road and introduces Band 14 spectrum to the region.

What it means for first responders

Band 14 is a big addition, providing a dedicated "VIP lane" for FirstNet, the nationwide public safety network. This means first responders in the area will have enhanced communications and connectivity when they need it most.

When FirstNet isn't utilizing its full capacity, local AT&T customers can benefit from Band 14's expanded coverage and capacity.

What local leaders are saying

Local leaders hailed the new tower's impact. Sheriff Ron Abernathy stated, "Investments like this strengthen both our public safety and our economy," opening doors for families, students, and businesses while ensuring emergency response.

TCSS Superintendent Keri Johnson added that the partnership enhances "the lives and safety of these more rural residents," supporting "communication and safety for our students and families."

Terri Williams of AT&T Alabama reiterated the company's commitment to "closing the digital divide" and building "modern, high-speed network infrastructure."

State Senator Gerald Allen concluded that the Buhl expansion exemplifies how private investment can "bring opportunities to all Alabamans."
