T-Mobile Ends JOD Lease Program: You May Get a Free Phone

T-Mobile confirmed the end of its JUMP! On Demand (JOD) leasing program, but existing customers are due for a significant surprise buyout.

T-Mobile is officially sunsetting its JUMP! On Demand (JOD) program, the flexible 18-month leasing agreement that allowed customers to upgrade their phones every 30 days.

Though the news first surfaced through leaked internal documents, T-Mobile has since confirmed the change on its website. The popular, decade-old program will officially retire on December 1st.

In a surprising concession, the carrier is offering a huge bonus to ease the transition: anyone whose JOD agreement extends past December 2nd will get to keep their current device, as all remaining lease payments will be forgiven.

The critical date for all JOD users is November 30th. Every customer has until this date to execute one final upgrade opportunity. Customers whose agreements naturally end before December 1st still retain the choice to turn in their device or finalize the purchase using the Purchase Option Installment Plan.

According to the leaked materials, T-Mobile is ending JOD to streamline its focus on the standard Equipment Installment Plan (EIP), which already includes nine-month installment options for device buyouts.
