Verizon Donates $10K for New Mexico Flood Relief

RUIDOSO, N.M. – As the New Mexico mountain community of Ruidoso begins to recover from a devastating flash flood, Verizon has announced a $10,000 donation to the Community Foundation of Lincoln County.
The New Mexico-based organization will allocate these funds to its shelter program, providing residents with assistance for temporary housing and repairs.
New Mexico's governor has issued a State of Emergency in response to the flooding. Officials indicate that recent wildfires and their burn scars contributed to the severity of the flood. Despite the widespread destruction, Verizon's network in the area remains operational.
This isn't the first time Verizon has supported New Mexico during natural disasters. The company previously aided public safety officials during last year's Ruidoso wildfires, deploying temporary communication assets for first responders.
Verizon maintains a fleet of over 550 mobile assets specifically designed for rapid deployment to deliver essential services during emergencies.
The recent disaster underscores the growing importance of satellite communication when traditional services are disrupted or in remote areas. Verizon customers with select Android and iOS devices on any myPlan can access free satellite messaging and emergency SOS features, including location detection.
