Verizon Launches New Program to Block Spam and Scam Calls

Tired of spam calls? Verizon has a new plan to stop them. The company is now using a feature called Branded Calling ID (BCID) right on its network, which should make it easier to tell a real call from a scam.

Here's how it works: Instead of a generic "unknown caller" or a random number, your phone screen will show a verified brand name, a logo, and a clear reason for the call. This is a game-changer for businesses like banks and doctors' offices that often struggle to get through to people.

While T-Mobile and AT&T have similar services, the best part about Verizon's version is that it's built into the network. That means no extra apps to download and no settings to mess with.

Verizon's new system adds an extra layer of protection on top of the existing STIR/SHAKEN framework, so you can feel more confident about who's on the other end of the line. While they haven't given a launch date, it's a welcome step toward cleaner, safer phone calls.
